Reform receives second £36m donation

Reform UK has received a second £36m donation in as many days, exceeding the total received by all UK political parties last year.

Cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne says he has matched Ben Delo's record-breaking donation of £72m announced late on Friday.

The Thailand-based entrepreneur stated that his 'competitive spirit' had inspired him to equal Delo's donation, the largest ever given to a UK political party.

Harborne expressed that he expected 'nothing personally' in return aside from a party that is ready for government.

The £72m from these two donations is more than the total received by all UK political parties last year.

Harborne has already donated millions to Reform and its leader Nigel Farage.

Farage is currently under investigation by the parliamentary standards commissioner over whether he should have declared a £5m cash gift from Harborne ahead of the 2024 election.

Farage has argued that he was under no obligation to register the 'purely private' gift, as it was unrelated to his parliamentary or political activities.

The £72m donation brings Reform UK's total donations to over £100m since its inception.

Harborne has pledged to continue donating to the cause, citing his commitment to reforming the political system in the UK.

Reform UK's leadership has welcomed Harborne's donation, stating that it is a 'significant boost' to their efforts.

The Thailand-based entrepreneur expressed gratitude for the support, stating that he hopes to continue making a positive impact on British politics.

Harborne's donation is seen as a significant development in the ongoing debate about reform and change in the UK.
