Widdecombe suspect charged with planning terror act against Farage
Joshua Kerry, a 28-year-old man from Rotherham, has been charged with preparing acts of terror against Nigel Farage, the former leader of Reform UK.
The further charge comes after a 'hugely intensive and complex investigation' led by Counter Terror Policing Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans.
Kerry was previously charged in July with the murder of 78-year-old Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokeswoman.
Widdecombe's body was found dead on Thursday, July 9, at her home in Haytor, Devon, having sustained serious injuries.
The investigation has been led by a dedicated team of detectives, analysts, and forensic experts, working on multiple lines of enquiry.
Kerry is due to appear in court over the terror charge on Wednesday. The Crown Prosecution Service's Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division said prosecutors 'worked closely' with police to bring the charge.
Joshua Kerry has been charged with one count of preparation of terrorist acts, relating to activity alleged to have taken place between May 2024 and July 2026.
The charge relates to a complex investigation that has resulted in this serious charge.
Kerry's case is being treated as a terror threat, and the Crown Prosecution Service will continue to work with Counter Terror Policing to bring those responsible to justice.
