Teenagers to be offered new vocational GCSE subjects in school
New vocational GCSEs to be introduced in England from 2029, replacing existing core subjects. The new subjects will include child development and building and construction as vocational courses.
The government aims to create a clear pathway for teenagers into different types of work through the introduction of these new qualifications.
Education unions have welcomed the idea but argue that a clear strategy is needed to make it happen.
