(Express Archive) The Prime Minister's Museum and Library (PMML) Society and Executive Council have been reconstituted, with former principal secretary to the prime minister Nripendra Mishra getting another five-year term as the organisation's chairman. However, several new entrants have joined the society of this premier institution - including former Union minister Smriti Irani, former Niti Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar, retired army general Syed Ata Hasnain, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and Sanskar Bharati's Vasudev Kamath. Advertisement The key decision-making body of the PMML - which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vice-chairman Defence Minister Rajnath Singh - has also been expanded and now has 34 members instead of 29. While its term ends on January 13, 2025, the culture ministry in an order issued the same day notified the reconstitution of the body for a five-year term. "The Central Government hereby reconstitutes the Society and Executive Council of the Prime Minister's Museum and Library, New Delhi," the order said, adding, "The term of office of the nominated members to the Society and the Executive Council of the PMML shall be for five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier." Ad Co-archaeologist BR Mani, who currently heads the National Museum, is also in the new team. Mani's team found remains resembling a temple in 2003 while excavating the disputed Ayodhya site. Researcher Rizwan Qadri has also been retained in the PMML Society. The Ahmedabad-based Qadri has recently written several letters to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi regarding the return of a large portion of Nehru-related papers. According to discussions held at the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the PMML Society, these papers were withdrawn in 2008 at the behest of Sonia Gandhi.
