Champions Trophy: We came out of "own" alley after being very dishonored

Pakistan got the honor of hosting an ICC event after 29 years. In the field of traditional rivalry, India tried many tactics to deprive us of it, in which our traditional rival failed, but after the worst performance of our own people, a very common verse emerged in our mind that "We have lost our own people, where was the tail of others."

The Champions Trophy had been buzzing for months and the matches are still going on but the host and defending champions have come out of this mega event like hair out of butter or fly out of milk in just five days.

After the embarrassing and one-sided defeats against New Zealand and then India, the national team has quietly returned home empty-handed. Before the mega event, there was as much noise in the team and the board as there is silence. There is a lot of noise in the discussions of cricket fans and analysts, but this silence in the Pakistan Cricket Board is a harbinger of a storm to come. What storm this silence raises or in simple words on whom is the wreckage or cold of this defeat, the time is not far when all this will be revealed.

The injury to talented young opener Saeem Ayub and then Fakhar Zaman before the Champions Trophy was definitely the biggest shock for Pakistan in the mega event, but injuries are part of the game. The injury of Fakhar Zaman after Saeem Ayub does not justify the humiliating exit of the green shirts from the tournament because important players of other teams were also injured, but not one or two of Australia's captain including four players were out of the mega event, but the performance of their replacements against England did not show this deficiency. Here is the incompetence of our team management who did not make their full bench and could not even prepare a replacement for any player.

All the teams had announced their squads for the Champions Trophy several weeks ago, but hosts Pakistan announced the 15-man squad shortly before the ICC deadline. With such a delay in the announcement of the squad, everyone expected the selection committee to come up with a rare gem for the mega event, but when the squad was announced, that too only through a press release. This announcement was similar to digging a mountain and turning out to be a rat and such names came out, which were not even in illusion. Former cricketers do not shy away from calling it recommendation and parachute selection.

While innovation is changing all fields, it is also changing cricket. Now cricket has become a calculated game with fast pace. Gone are the days of half partridge and half quail, now every position requires specialists. Everyone expected that the Champions Trophy is being held on Pakistan's soil and all teams are bringing two, three and four spinners in their squad, so our team, which is playing at home and recently defeated England and West Indies with spin squad, must include these spinners, but when it was announced, everyone was surprised to see only one specialist spinner and one opener.

In fact, Pakistan was out of the Champions Trophy at the same time as the squad was announced, comprising of rare and rare players, with only one spinner and one specialist opener. Cricket fans were emotional, but the former cricketers who played in this field for years also expressed their displeasure at this announcement. They were humiliatingly eliminated in the first round of the Twenty20 World Cup in similar fashion.
