Plans to show ads while chatting, WhatsApp has revealed the reality
According to foreign media reports, WhatsApp dismissed as baseless a report by the British newspaper Financial Times which claimed that the company was planning to display advertisements to increase its revenue.
The Financial Times in its report claimed that the WhatsApp team discussed showing ads in chats during a meeting but no final decision was taken on it.
According to the report, the meeting also said that there should be a subscription fee for users who want to avoid advertisements.
As soon as this news article was published, users were in trouble.
Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp on the social networking site X, explained the truth. He said that Financial Times report is false and baseless, we are not going to do anything like that.
Note that WhatsApp was bought by Meta in 2014 for $19 billion in a major deal.
