Pakistan and Oman have agreed to soon finalize a Memorandum of Understanding on Labor and Manpower Exchange, which will help increase Pakistani manpower and ease the movement of manpower from Pakistan to Oman, it has decided. The meeting was held in Muscat between Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Waziristan Labor of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Mahad Bin Bi Bin Ali Baween.

According to the details, Chaudhry Salik Hussain informed the Omani counterpart about the important reforms carried out by the Government of Pakistan to improve the immigration process of Pakistani workers, increase their professional skills and market Pakistani workforce abroad. What, he said, is that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis is upgrading technical training centers in Pakistan on modern lines to train the workforce as per the certification requirement of each individual country or region.

It has been reported that Oman is the third largest employer of Pakistani labor in the GCC of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and about 360,000 Pakistanis are working in Oman, earning Pakistan over $1 billion annually from Oman. More remittances are received, Dr. Mahad bin Saeed bin Ali Baween said that Pakistan and Oman have very cordial relations and Pakistanis are playing their role in the development of Oman, Pakistanis are very skilled workers and work in various fields. As we do, the process of migration of workers in Oman will be streamlined, any bottlenecks will be removed.

It is learned that Chaudhry Salik Hussain invited his counterpart to look at technical training facilities and possible joint cooperation in training in the future. which has a database of more than five lakh Pakistanis in various fields.

The Federal Minister also proposed the possibility of Oman investing in skill development centers in Pakistan. The parties agreed to increase official engagement between the two countries. The country is going to start a mandatory pre-departure orientation program for all the workers going, in which they will be made aware about the labor laws of the host country, rights and duties of workers, cultural sensitivity of the host country.
